Care & Maintenance

Our windows are exposed to harsh climates all year round, from time to time, they need to be cared for in order to last as long as possible. Aluminium windows require minimal maintenance. However, in order to keep your windows looking fresh and functioning, a routine clean is necessary.

Here are a few tips in helping you maintain your windows.

ALUMINIUM FRAMES

External frames should be cleaned every 3 months with a soft cloth or sponge with mild detergent and warm water.

Use a soft dry cloth to remove all remaining water from the hinges, sealant and frames. Avoid using abrasive cleaning tools and harsh chemicals to avoid damaging the aluminium surface and the glass.

GLASS

The window glass can be cleaned with a simple window cleaning solution or mild soap with water, with a soft sponge or cloth.

Avoid scrubbing the glass surface to prevent scratches and damages.

Be sure to remove any detergent residues with a gentle dry cloth.

ANODISING

Anodising your aluminium window frame helps to prolong its life by increasing its durability and corrosion resistance. This involves adding a coating to the aluminium which enhances the thickness of the surface layer.

Anodised aluminium should only be cleaned with soft cleaners and mild detergents.

Abrasive, rough cleaners should not be used under any circumstances.

It is important to rinse the surface with warm water and dry thoroughly after cleaning.

POWDER COATING

Powder coating is a unique painting process of aluminium windows that finishes up just like regular paint. Powder Coating your aluminium window prolongs its life by adding protection from corrosion whilst delivering a high quality finish.

To clean powder coated aluminium, non-abrasive detergents and lukewarm water is recommended.

Do not use commercial cleaning products as they can cause damage. Once powder coated finishes are damaged, they are more prone to fading.

A soft cloth is recommended to clean the surface with. After cleaning, rinse away any remaining residues with clean water.
